Paranacaena Blackburn, 1889: a valid genus
(Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae)

Abstract - The genus Paranacaena Blackburn, 1889, from Australia and New Guinea, is recognized as valid. The type material of all the 6 known species is examined and the aedeagi are figured. Three new species are described: P. balkei, P. wattsi and P. nitens. A key to species is supplied.
