Abstract - About the identity of Elaphocera angusta Kraatz 1882 and description of Elaphocera alonsoi n. sp. from the Spanish South-East (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Melolonthinae: Pachydemini) - The type material of Elaphocera angusta Kraatz, 1882 is studied. Elaphocera alonsoi n. sp., with its subspecies E. alonsoi alonsoi n. ssp. and E. alonsoi semperei n. ssp., are described from the South-East of Spain, the new species being previously mistaken for E. angusta Kraatz. The latter is newly defined on the basis of the types kept in the Deutsches Entomologisches Institut of Eberswalde (Germany).
