Abstract - Elements for a revision of the genus Laccobius (Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae) - A new subgenus, Cyclolaccobius, is described. The subgenera Platylaccobius Gentili, 1974 and Hydroxenus Wollaston, 1867 are synonyms. Two new species, L. ambonicus and L. oceanicus, are described. The neotype of L. zugmayeri Knisch, 1910 and the lectotype of L. oblongus Gorham, 1907 are designated; the holotypes of L. tibialis d'Orchymont, 1932, L. sculptus d'Orchymont, 1936 and L. atricolor d'Orchymont, 1939 are ascertained. Drawings of the aedeagus of L. parumpunctatus Régimbart and an aedeagical variety of L. pommayi Bedel are given. Geographical notes are supplied for other species.
