Abstract - Mireius, new genus of the tribe Pterostichini (Coleoptera Carabidae) is charcterized chiefly by the shape of the apical segment of labial palpi, which is subglobose, by a transversal sulcus on the head, behind eyes, and by the fore- and midtibiae which are spiny. Type-species of the genus, Mireius dentitibiis n. sp., here described, a small (4,4-4,7 mm) depressed, subparallel, ferruginous-brown species. No other African species of the tribe Pterostichini has such a shape of the apical segment of labial palpi. Pterostichus viridellus nom. nov. replaces Pterostichus pakistanus Straneo, 1982 preoc. n. by Pterostichus pakistanus Jedlicka, 1962.
