P. MAGRINI, A. PETRIOLI, A. BENELLI & A. DEGIOVANNI

Abstract - A new endogean Duvalius from Sicily of the "siculus group" (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - A new endogean Duvalius from W Sicily of the "siculus group" (sensu MAGRINI, 1997-1998) is described. It is close to Duvalius marii Vanni, Magrini & Pennisi, 1992 from the Ficuzza Wood (Palermo) for the resemblance of their copulatory lamellae, though their structures are clearly different, as different are their aedeagus and habitus. The new species is the southernmost Sicilian Duvalius.

Descrizione di due nuovi Trechini ipogei e ritrovamento di
Boldoriella tedeschii Sciaky, 1977, nelle Prealpi Varesine
(Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae)

di

RICCARDO MONGUZZI

Abstract - Descriptions of two new hypogean Trechini and finding of Boldoriella tedeschii Sciaky, 1977 in the Varese Pre-Alps (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - The Author reports the unexpected results of personal researches on the hypogean coleopterological fauna (more precisely the Carabidae Trechinae) of the Varese Pre-Alps, a small alpine area traditionally wrongly considered nearly lacking in this faunistic component, if we except Duvalius ghidinii (Gestro, 1909). The interesting data are as follows: 1) new findings and a synthesis of the actual knowledges on Duvalius ghidinii; 2) a taxonomical revaluation and the recognition of the subspecies rank to the only population of Duvalius ghidinii found outside Mount Campo dei Fiori (D. ghidinii martinensis n. subsp.); 3) the discovery of the genus Boldoriella Jeannel, 1928 in the eastern Varese Pre-Alps for the presence of B. (Insubrites) tedeschii Sciaky, 1977, previously known only from the Como Pre-Alps; 4) the description of a new species of Boldoriella, very differentiated even from B. tedeschii, collected further West in the western Varese Pre-Alps: Boldoriella (Insubrites) verbanensis n. sp.

Una nuova Dimorphoreicheia Magrini, Fancello & Leo, 2002 della Sardegna centro-occidentale
(Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae)

di

P. MAGRINI & L. FANCELLO

Abstract - A new Dimorphoreicheia Magrini, Fancello & Leo, 2002 from Central-West Sardinia (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - A new taxon - Dimorphoreicheia quadrisetosa n. sp. - is described from Mount Monti Ferru (Cuglieri, Oristano), the type locality of the syntopic Typhloreicheia jucunda (Holdhaus, 1924). The new species, small and slender, looks like the geographically distant Dimorphoreicheia relicta Magrini, 2004 from Mount Gonare (Nuoro), rather than the closer Dimorphoreicheia vannii Magrini, Fancello & Leo, 2002 from Sedilo (Oristano). It is easy to differentiate the new species from the other two already known of the genus, on the basis of the characters of the aedeagus, and the number of bristles on the pronotal disc: four instead of two; further, the pronotum is much wider at base. A key to the three species of the genus is present.

di

GIULIANO TREZZI

Abstract - Trechisibus zorgatii, new trechine species from Tierra del Fuego (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - Trechisibus zorgatii, new trechine species, is described from the Argentinian Tierra del Fuego, from Hushuaia, Martial Glacier (550 m a.s.l.). It is recognizable from the related species through its morphology, chaetotaxy and male genitalia. Some characters would allow the creation of a new “group of species” for it.

Note tassonomiche su alcuni
Trechus italiani del “gruppo subnotatus” (sensu JEANNEL, 1927), con rivalutazione di un taxon
e una nuova sinonimia
(Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae)

di

A. DEGIOVANNI & P. MAGRINI

Abstract - Taxonomic notes on some Italian Trechus of the subnotatus group (sensu Jeannel, 1927), with a taxon revalued and a new synonymy (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - In the present note, the systematic value of some Trechus of the subnotatus group (sensu JEANNEL, 1927) present in Italy, Switzerland and South France is considered. T. raymondi Pandellé, 1867 and T. binotatus Putzeys, 1870 have been treated up to now as synonyms of T. fairmairei Pandellé, 1867: the synonymy of T. raymondi with T. fairmairei is confirmed, while T. binotatus is considered of species rank, on the basis of morphological characters regarding the male genitalia, especially. The study has been complicated by the fact that the types of the three cited taxa are not traceable in their respective depository collections in Paris and Bruxelles: the types are considered lost. Hence, two the neotypes here designated, one for T. fairmairei, and one for T. binotatus. T. fairmairei is a species distributed in SE France and SW Italy, while T. binotatus range involves most part of N & C Italy and Canton Ticino in Switzerland. The two species are strictly vicariant. Trechus kahleni Donabauer & Lebenbauer, 2003 is considered a junior synonym of Trechus binotatus Putzeys, 1870, for the inconsistence of the distinctive diagnostic characters.

di

P. MAGRINI & C. ONNIS

Abstract - A new Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924 from Barbagia Seulo (Sardinia) (Cole-optera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - A new Sardinian taxon - Typhloreicheia musimon n. sp. - from a cave in Barbagia Seulo, Seui (Ogliastra), is herein described and illustrated. The new species is close to T. casalei Magrini, Marcia & Onnis, 2011, from the cave “Buco sotto la Punta Zippiri, N° 2649 Sa/NU”, mainly for the aedeagus' shape, but it is easily distinguished from it for several and evident characteristics, i.e. minor size, different shape of the copulatory lamella, of the dorsal margin of the aedeagus and the same in ventral view, the female styli. A new group of species, namely, the "pandora Group", from central-eastern Sardinia is here proposed.

Una nuova specie di Stomis Clairville
dei Colli Berici (Vicenza) e osservazioni su
Stomis rostratus (Sturm in DUFTSCHMID, 1812)
(Coleoptera Carabidae)

di

VITTORINO MONZINI

Abstract - A new species of Stomis Clairville from Berici Hills (Vicenza) and observations on Stomis rostratus (Sturm in DUFTSCHMID, 1812) (Coleoptera, Carabidae) - The author describes a new species of Stomis Clairville, 1806 from Berici Hills in Vicenza province (NE Italy). The new species can be attributed to the S. rostratus group, for the transverse constriction on the head behind eyes, and the combination of peculiar characters both external and of the aedeagus. The new taxon is particularly close to the species rostratus (Sturm in DUFTSCHMID, 1812), for the sparse dorsal pubescence of tarsi from the second segment on, and for the particular shape of the apex of the median lobe of the aedeagus. It clearly differs from S. rostratus for the more elongate and thinner apical blade of the aedeagus with much larger terminal disk, besides other external features. Moreover, the author examined many specimens of S. rostratus rostratus from Austria and Slovenia, and stresses their differences from the western subspecies from Veneto and Lombardy in Italy.

P. MAGRINI & C. ONNIS

Abstract - A new Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924 from southwestern Sardinia (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - A new Sardinian taxon, collected in a cave near Teulada (Cagliari) - Typhloreicheia elisae n. sp. - is herein described and illustrated. The new species can be differentiated from the other known species for the different shape of the aedeagus and its copulatory lamella, as shown in the illustrations of the article, while the particularly long head and the quite flat habitus distinguish the exoskeleton, reminding of other cave Typhloreicheia, like T. bavierai Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010 from the Trapani cave "Grotta del Sughero" in Sicily.

Abstract - A new species of Parophonus Ganglbauer, 1891 subg. Orphanixus Clarke, 1971 from continental Africa and notes on the subgenus Heterohyparpalus Basilewsky, 1946 (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Harpalinae) - Parophonus (Orphanixus) rotundangulus n. sp. is described from Tanzania and Zambia, the habitus and male genitalia of the same are illustrated.  P. (O.) rotundangulus n. sp. is easily distinguished from Parophonus (Orphanixus) gojebensis (Clarke, 1971) by its pronotum wider, with anterior angles more protruding and basal angles distinctly more rounded, elytra wider, with shorter pubescence, and discal setigerous punctures situated on intervals 3, 5 and 7 more distinct, striae finely punctate (not punctate in P. gojebensis), and a different shape of the median lobe of the aedeagus. Some further systematic notes on Parophonus Ganglbauer, 1891 subg. Heterohyparpalus Basilewsky, 1946 are provided.

P. MAGRINI, L. FANCELLO, A. DEGIOVANNI & C. ONNIS

Abstract - Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924 from Sardinia: description of a new species, definition of the “doderoi” Group and unpublished data (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - A new species from Sardinia - Typhloreicheia benellii n. sp. - from Mount Tonneri and Mount Perda Liana (Ogliastra) is herein described and illustrated. Characterized by a long habitus, by long elytra especially, it is distinguished from the already known species for the aedeagus and its copulatory lamella shapes. The new taxon belongs to the "doderoi" Group (sensu novo) which comprises species from central Sardinia characterized by a copulatory lamella twisted at base, short antennae, reduced elytral denticulation and rather convex body; besides the new species, belong to this group: T. doderoi (Holdhaus, 1924), T. supramontis Leo, Magrini & Fancello, 2005, T. cirocchii Magrini, 2003, T. eleonorae Leo, Magrini & Fancello, 2005 and T. jana Leo, Magrini & Fancello, 2005. Detailed photographs illustrate the new taxon and T. jana, which must be considered the closest relative, geographically and morphologically. New distribution records for other known Sardinian species of the genus are also given.

P. MAGRINI & A. BENELLI

Abstract - Anophthalmus kahleni Daffner, 1998, species new to the Italian fauna (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Trechinae) - Anophthalmus kahleni Daffner, 1998 is recorded for the first time from Italy: the species was up to now known only from the Slovene cave “Jama v Malenščah” (Livek), not far from the Italian border. It is interesting to note that the species was collected [with traps] at endogean, rather than hypogean level, and syntopic with the Anophthalmus taxa baratellii Sciaky, 1985, scopolii mataiurensis G. Müller, 1935 and bohiniensis stolfai G. Müller, 1931.
