Notes on the Anacaenini from Australia and Melanesia
with descriptions of new species
(Coleoptera, Hydrophilidae)

Abstract - Fourteen new Anacaenini species are described: Crenitis neogallica (New South Wales), Paracymus gigas (Western Australia), Paranacaena colorata (Irian Jaya), P. convexa (Irian Jaya), P. gilva (Irian Jaya), P. lineata (Irian Jaya), P. lucida (Irian Jaya), P. obscura (Irian Jaya), P. pallens (Papua New Guinea), P. personata (Irian Jaya), P. pilosa (Irian Jaya), P. praetexta (Papua New Guinea), P. testacea (Irian Jaya), P. violacea (New Caledonia). A key to Melanesian Paranacaena species is provided. The key to the tribe Anacaenini by Hansen (1991) is discussed and redrawn.
