Abstract - The "Genus" Thorectes Mulsant, 1842 (Coleoptera, Scarabaeoidea, Geotrupidae) in the European Fauna - A systematic, taxonomic and chorologic study on the European Thorectes Mulsant, 1842. All the known species of this ancient genus [which is here divided into five genera: genus Baraudia nov.; genus Thorectes Mulsant, 1842 (with two subgenera: Thorectes Mulsant, 1842 and Renaudia nov.); genus Silphotrupes Jekel, 1866; genus Jekelius López-Colón, 1989 (with three subgenera: Jekelius López-Colón, 1989, Petrovitzia nov. and Reitterius nov.); genus Zuninoeus López-Colón, 1989] from Europe are characterized, also by the use of keys.
