Abstract - Phenology and habits of the Cetoniinae (Coleoptera: Melolonthidae) in the Xalapa-Coatepec area, Veracruz, Mexico - A comparative inventory on the Cetoniinae scarab beetles attracted to traps baited with fermented fruits at the edge of a small patch of cloud forest near Xalapa city is presented. Temporal distribution and habits of nine species of Paragymnetis, Hoplopyga, Cotinis, Amithao, Hologymnetis, Gymnetis and Euphoria during three years of trapping are noted. Paragymnetis hebraica difficilis is the dominant species in all seasons. Amithao pyrrhonotum and Gymnetis stellata are cited for the first time for this locality. Another seven species of Anomala, Epectinaspis, Strigoderma, Cyclocephala and Isonychus are occasionally attracted to these traps. After a century of intense modifications in the forest of the Xalapa area, it is concluded that the Gymnetini fauna only shows slight changes.
