Abstract - Differential characters of the genera Polydius Dejean, 1821 and Cneorhinus Schoenherr, 1823, with description of a new Iberian species: Cneorhinus serranoi (Col. Curc. Brachyderinae) - The differences between the genera Polydius Dejean, 1821 and Cneorhinus Schoenherr, 1823 are discussed and the synonymies of the former given. Curculio globatus Herbst, 1784 is designated type species of Dactylorhinus Tournier, 1876, supporting this action the synonymy with Philopedon Schoenherr, 1826. Moreover, a new species from Serra da Arrábida, Portugal, is described: Cneorhinus serranoi n. sp. differs from the 3 known species by the metallic green round scales with golden or coppery glint and the male penis and internal sac armature.
