Abstract - Eight new Coleoptera Trogidae (7 species, one subspecies) from South America are hereby described: 1) Omorgus (Omorgus) triestinae n. sp. (Brazil); 2) Polynoncus burmeisteri n. sp. (Argentina); 3) P. patriciae n. sp. (Argentina); 4) P. mirabilis n. sp. (Chile); 5) P. furcifer n. sp. (Paraguay, Brazil); 6) P. parafurcatus n. sp. (Brazil); 7) P. parafurcatus occidentalis n. sp. (Argentina); 8) P. furcillifer n. sp. (Brazil). Complementary redescriptions of P. argentinus (Har.) and P. bifurcatus (Vaurie) are also given. The relationships of each new taxon with its closest allies are extensively discussed. Numerous relevant original drawings of the new taxa and their closest allies complete this work.
