Abstract - Pterostichus (Nesorthomus) berrai n. sp.: a case of allopatric speciation in the Isle of Madeira (Coleoptera, Carabidae) - Pterostichus (Nesorthomus) berrai n. sp. from the eastern part of the Isle of Madeira is described and distinguished from Pt. (Nesorthomus) gracilipes Woll., living in the western part, by the shape of penis without a hardly projecting dorsal ridge (on the contrary present in the latter) and with the apex sharply bent downwards (it is rounded in the latter). The two taxa are probably allopatric, sympatric only on the border of their spreading areas.
