Taxonomic considerations on, types revisions,
lectotypes designations and descriptions of new or little known Psammodiini
from Palaearctic, Oriental and Ethiopian Regions
(Coleoptera Aphodiidae)

Abstract - Through the study of nearly 7000 identified and unidentified specimens of Palaearctic, Ethiopian and Oriental Aphodiidae (Tribe Psammodiini) as well as further 330 type specimens (of which 31 holotypes) belonging to 71 different taxa, some of which hereby indirectly treated, the A. designates 31 lectotypes, 151 paralectotypes and 2 neoallotypes, describes 20 new taxa (18 species, 2 subspecies), and verifies the taxonomic positions of 61 taxa in all: 31 taxa are hereby confirmed to be valid species, 6 are rehabilitated to the value of good species, 19 new synonymies are pointed out, 5 synonymies already given in literature are confirmed, whereas 8 new combinations are also proposed. For every known species, as well as eventual synonyms, literature, type localities, the location of types or lectotypes designations, a brief or detailed redescription, a taxonomic discussion and the material examined are provided. 81 taxa are hereby discussed in all, 20 of which being new for science. Original drawings complete this work.
