Abstract - Detailed biological studies of Heliothis armigera were conducted in the laboratory and under field conditions. Female moths laid eggs late in the evening. Eggs were laid singly. Normally, there are six instars. Full fed larvae pupated by constructing earthen cells in the soil. There is large variation in colour and size occurring within and between larval instars. The males outnumbered the females both in the field and under the laboratory.
