This issue of Giornale Italiano di Entomologia is dedicated to the memory of William F. (Bill) Barr (20 October 1920 - 17 December 2011), noted coleopterist from the Pacific Northwest, U.S.A., shown above in a 2005 photo with his wife, Audrey. Bill, who specialized in the families Buprestidae and Cleridae, was a colleague, mentor and friend to many entomologists, some of which pay special tribute to him in the writings to follow. The lead article includes memories from a dozen such people and includes lists of Bill’s publications and described taxa, and patronyms described in his honor. This is followed by submitted papers dedicated to Bill by some of these plus other colleagues.

Size variation in Phobetus sleeperi Hardy
with description of the female from Baja California, Mexico, observations on the type locality,
and comparisons with Phobetus desertus Blom & Clark
(Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae)
by
PAUL E. BLOM & WILLIAM H. CLARK
Abstract - Phobetus sleeperi Hardy, from Baja California, Mexico, was described from only the male holotype with no published natural history information. Variability in specimens collected from the type locality and surrounding area on 3 January 1989 is described, including two females. Analysis of this variability indicates that P. desertus Blom & Clark should remain a distinct species. Observations on flight activity, habitat, and predation for both P. sleeperi and P. desertus are provided. There appears to be a positive relationship between winter precipitation and adult activity for both species. The spider Eustala conchlea (McCook) (Araneae, Araneidae) was observed to prey on males of P. sleeperi, which adds to knowledge of this spider's natural history. We also report collection information for a single specimen that appears to represent a fourth undescribed Phobetus species from the Baja California peninsula.

✝ The Author, Charles Lawrence Bellamy (b. 31 July 1951, d. 19 August 2013), following a prolonged illness, passed away during the compilation of this issue.
Abstract - A new genus, Billbarrellus, is proposed for the single species Eulasiodora singularis Obenberger 1931, which is distinct from the type species of that genus, Eulasiodora umtalina (Péringuey 1908) (formerly Paradora), at the subtribal level. Both taxa are redescribed and illustrated to emphasize their differences.

Abstract - Two new Typhloreicheia Holdhaus, 1924 sympatric on Mount Pellegrino (Sicily) (Coleoptera, Carabidae, Scaritinae) - Two new Sicilian species - Typhloreicheia susannae and Typhloreicheia colacurcioi - sympatric on Mount Pellegrino (Palermo), are here described and illustrated. T. susannae is a large species, with physogastric abdomen and strong marginal denticulation of elytra; it can be compared with T. zingarensis Magrini & Baviera, 2003 only, the sole from Sicily with similar characteristics, but T. susannae can be distinguished for the little longer elytra, the absence of the third hair on parameres, the aedeagus more dilated in ventral view, and, above all, for the structure of the copulatory lamella with a bunch of larger spines differently placed. T. colacurcioi n. sp. is very small, has depressed, narrow, parallel-sided body and thin marginal denticulation of elytra at the first 3/4; it can be compared with T. bavierai Magrini, Degiovanni & Petrioli, 2010 only, the sole with similar characteristics, but T. colacurcioi can be distinguished for the less flattened body, the wider extension of the marginal denticulation of elytra, more convex temples, less constricted pronotum at base, a little shorter elytra, and the large, ensiform spines of the gonapophyses which have blunted, not sharp, tips.
