Abstract - The carbohydrases profile of Oxya fuscovittata was determined through spectrophotometric studies on the hydrolysis of α and β linked oligo- and polysaccharides. Isomaltose and inulin were not hydrolysed by O. fuscovittata. The presence of amylase, α- and β-glucosidase, trehalase and α- and β-galactosidase enzymes and the characteristic pH for their optimum activity are reported. The activity of the enzymes is discussed in the light of the changing pH along the alimentary tract.
