Abstract - Xylocopa (Xylocopa) violacea (Linnaeus, 1758) (Hymenoptera: Apidae): description of the antennae of the pupa - The description of the antennae of the pupa of Xylocopa violacea (L.) (Apidae: Xylocopini) is the aim of this note. Main results are as follows: a) the ventral side of pupal antennal flagellomeres is carinate; b) only adult males of Lestis species show this character among the Xylocopini; c) Lestis should be probably included in Xylocopa, as ancestral group of this.
