Abstract - The Scorpions (Scorpiones) of Pindus (Greece) - The results of a research on the Scorpions of Pindus (Northern and Central Greece) are reported. 194 specimens belonging to 3 species, 1 Buthidae and 2 Euscorpiidae, were collected during the years 1982-1985 and 1997. Morphometrical and bioecological data on each species are presented and discussed.

Abstract - The Scorpions (Scorpiones) of Taurus (Turkey) - The results of a research on the Scorpions of the Taurus Mountains (Southern Turkey) are reported. 188 specimens belonging to 4 species, 1 Buthidae, 1 Euscorpiidae, 1 Iuridae and 1 Scorpionidae, were collected during the years 1989 and 1996. Morphometrical and bioecological data on each species are presented and discussed.

Abstract - Ecological factors of the distribution of Buthus occitanus (Amoreux, 1789) in Europe (Scorpiones: Buthidae) - In this work some ecological factors of the distribution of Buthus occitanus in the Iberian Peninsula and south-western France are examined on the ground of the evaluation of geopedological and biocenological features of 41 collecting sites. A close correlation between the European distribution of this species and the distribution of areas characterized by Mediterranean climate has been ascertained. Some physical factors of the microdistribution are briefly discussed: the grade and exposition of slopes, and the presence and kind of water resources.

Abstract - Ecology of Mesobuthus gibbosus (Brullé, 1832) in the Pindus Mountains (Epirus and Thessaly, Greece) (Scorpiones, Buthidae) - Climatic, edaphic and biotic factors are responsible for the presence of Mesobuthus gibbosus in the Pindus Mountains (central and northern Greece); their interactions are discussed too. The species lives on red soils originated by the loss of carbonate in source rocks of limestone, with different percentage of clay, rich in iron oxides; on slopes with a slight activity, mainly facing south, with denudation caused by pasture and deforestation. M. gibbosus can be considered e xerophylous and thermophylous species, however, large populations are found in biotopes - sides looking on to fluvial valleys - characterized by a certain degree of moisture. Sex-ratio is in favour of females, mainly adult, and among the possible causes, cannibalism is discussed. Some observations on feeding in captivity are also reported.
