Specie nuove o poco note di Pselafidi
delle Prealpi Venete e Lombarde
(Coleoptera Staphylinidae Pselaphinae)

di

RICCARDO MONGUZZI

Abstract - New or little known species of Pselaphinae from the Venetian and Lombard Pre-Alps (Coleoptera Staphylinidae) - The Author reports the results of long personal researches on the hypogean fauna of the Venetian and Lombard Pre-Alps, which also led to the identification of two new microphthalmic species of the genus Bryaxis Kugelann, 1794, here described: B. trezzii n. sp. from Grotta [Cave] dell’Arena (Lessini Mountains near Verona) and B. chiarae n. sp. from Mount Torrezzo (Pre-Alps near Bergamo). Besides, a new group of species (named “the emilianus group”), to which also B. chiarae belongs, is here defined. Finally, new data on the geographical distribution of Bryaxis pavani (Tamanini) and Tychobythinus rosai Besuchet are given. A series of drawings of morphological characteristics and distributional maps complete the work.

Lathrobium colacurcioi n. sp. from Emilia-Romagna (Italy)
(Coleoptera, Staphylinidae)

by

A. BORDONI & P. MAGRINI

Abstract - A new Italian species of anophthalmous Lathrobium is described and illustrated: Lathrobium colacurcioi sp. n. from Castel d'Aiano (Bologna) and Monte Paolo (Ravenna). The new species differs from the similar Lathrobium maginii Bordoni, 1972 from Mugello (Tuscany) by external characters (larger body and different punctation), and by the large aedeagus, with different apex of dorsal and ventral laminae and by the structure of the inner sac. The new species occurs on the Adriatic slopes of the Apennines, while Lathrobium maginii is found on the Tyrrhenian slopes of the same. A new record, the first since the description of the species, for Lathrobium garioi Bordoni, 1984 is given.

The oxypodine genus Haploglossa Kraatz in North America
(Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae)

by

JAN KLIMASZEWSKI & JAMES S. ASHE

Abstract - The genus Haploglossa Kraatz is revised for North America. Two species are recognized: H. nebulosa (Casey) (Rheochara nebulosa Casey) and H. barberi (Fenyes) (Microglotta barberi Fenyes). H. mexicana (Sharp) (Microglossa mexicana Sharp) may be a senior synonym of H. nebulosa (Casey), but missing apical abdominal segments and genitalia from the single known specimen of H. mexicana make this assignment uncertain. A key for the separation of the North American species is given and descriptions and illustrations of genitalic features, mouthparts, and habitus are provided.
